Ray Trajectories in the Axial-Symmetric Inhomogeneous Medium of a Dye Laser

RÉSUMÉ

The ray optics approximation is used to analyze the effect of nonuniformity in the refractive index distribution upon formation of the closed ray trajectories determining the spatial and angular characteristics of radiation from optically pumped dye lasers. It is shown that efficient operation of lasers of the type can be ensured through temperature stabilization both of the active medium and the coolant at the external surface of the cell.
