Transformation of Electromagnetic Waves of Complex Space-and-Time Configuration by Layered Electrodynamic Structures

RÉSUMÉ

Analytical and numerical solutions are presented for the plane monochromatic waves, pulsed signals and wave beams scattered by a diffractive structure involving a periodic grating with a multilayer magnetodielectric coating. Special attention is given to investigating the amplitude, phase and power characteristics of the waves scattered by such structures in resonance areas of the diffractional spatial harmonics existing in dielectric layers. The effect of anomalous resonant absorption of the incident field power by the diffractional structure is considered. It is shown that even slight variations in the parameters of a lossy structure can result in sharp changes (“switching”) not only of the phase of the scattered field but in jumps of the sign of its increment as well. Conversion, separation and anomalous absorption characteristics are considered of signals characterized by a complex space-and-time configuration in multiplayer structures.
