Characteristics of the Near-Field Zone of Short Wire Antennas

RÉSUMÉ

The amplitude and phase characteristics of electromagnetic (EM) field of symmetric short thin-wire finite-length antennas in their near-field zone have been examined. The applicability limits of the Hertzian electric dipole theory for the antennas whose length is considerably shorter than the wavelength are determined, and the far-field zone boundaries of small electric-size wire antennas have been likewise specified.
