Analysis of Scattering by a Series of Uniform Elements by Means of the Cayley-Hamilton Theorem
RÉSUMÉ
On the basis of the generalized circuit theory and mathematical theory of matrix functions, an analytical method for solving the problems of wave diffraction by quasi-periodic structures with an arbitrary number of elements (periods) is proposed. The method obviates the multiplication of transfer matrices and makes it possible to represent the solution by an analytical formula. The scattering characteristics of symmetric waves in a cylindrical waveguide supplied with a periodic series of resistive films or reactive (annular or radial) diaphragms are studied, that illustrates the efficiency of the method. It is shown that the algorithm for solving wave diffraction problems does not depend on the type of the transmission line, the structural and the number of composition elements, and the properties of the feed waveguides.
