RÉSUMÉ
In mountain water courses and oligotrophic water bodies, epilithon algae communities are characterized by a high rate of reproduction, by a high intensity of functioning, and by high values of biomass. These features are typical to phytoepilithon of oligotrophic water bodies in different regions of the world. It is thought that the spatial structure and intensive metabolism of microscopic algae are responsible for autonomous cycle of matter, and also for self supply of algae by nutrients. This is supported by high quantitative indices of phytoepilithon development at a low content of nutrients in oligotrophic water bodies.
