Nano-Effects in Cavitation Processes II. Criterion of Destruction of Cavitation Bubbles

RÉSUMÉ

Numerical modeling of the vapor bubble dynamics in cavitation phenomena has been performed. The origin of thermal instability of a spherical bubble surface, which causes the irreversible breakup of the bubble, is considered. The bubble is expected to collapse if the bubble wall temperature exceeds the critical temperature. Comparison of theoretical and experimental data on the bubble behavior in hydrodynamic, acoustic, and vapor cavitation processes confirms the validity of this hypothesis.
