Density of Nucleation Sites

RÉSUMÉ

Formulas well-known for one of the most important inner characteristics of boiling, density of nucleation sites, are analyzed. The most general formula to calculate this characteristic is proposed; this formula comprises the formulas given in the literature as special cases. Calculations by the formula are compared with numerous experimental data. The effect of various factors, such as the mate-rial and roughness of a heating surface, artificial pores, pressure, the type of boil¬ing liquid, the underheating of liquid, the overheating of wall, the anisothermic properties of surface, the location of heating surface, on the density of nucleation sites is analyzed.
