Cooling Curve and Quench Factor Characterization of 2024 and 7075 Aluminum Bar Stock Quenched in Type 1 Polymer Quenchants
RÉSUMÉ
A mechanistic explanation will be offered to explain the substantial distor¬tion reduction obtained using Type 1 polymer quenchants. An explanation of the occasionally encountered problem of increased distortion at intermediate water quenching temperatures will also be discussed. Experimental results obtained from designed experiments conducted to evaluate the effect of quenchant concen¬tration, agitation rate and section size on the physical properties of 2024 and 7075 aluminum sheet stock and 7075 bar stock are reviewed.
