Free-Convective Heat Transfer in the Vicinity of a Thermodynamic Critical Point

RÉSUMÉ

Experiments on natural-convection heat transfer from a heated horizontal cylinder to fluid were performed for a wide range of bulk conditions. In near-critical states the deviation of the dimensionless coefficient of heat transfer from a Nusselt-type correlation was observed. This phenomenon can be explained by the existence of three boundary layers.
