RÉSUMÉ

The results pertaining to separation of a vapor-water flow and to its structure in large-diameter vertical channels are given. The tests were carried out at a pressure of 3.5 MPa and a vapor-water mixture flow rate of 10.0, 12.0, and 20.0 kg/sec, which corresponded to mass velocities in the test section of 750, 1000, and 1500 kg/m2·sec, respectively. Relative enthalpy changed from −0.05 to +0.2. The experiments have shown that the separation coefficient in a separating chamber is substantially higher than in similar channels of small diameter. This is caused by the fact that even at relative enthalpies equal to 0, an annular-dispersed vapor-water flow is formed in the inner pipe, whereas at higher values there is a ring structure with an actual void fraction equal to 0.9−0.95 in the major part of the section.
