Performances of a Silica Gel Reactor within an Adsorption Cooling System
RÉSUMÉ
Using an evaporation desiccation technique for air-conditioning emerges as a well-performing, economic, and nonpolluting alternative. This article is a theoretical study of the behavior of a silica gel reactor, which is an essential element of an adsorption cooling system. The transport phenomena in the desiccator are resolved numerically. Both adsorption and desorption (regeneration) phases are treated. This article describes time-space evolutions of water content in the reactor as well as temperature and humidity differences between the inlet and the outlet of the reactor. The article deals with the effect of the reactor aspect ratio, the reactor volume, and the airflow rate. This article also presents the desiccator performance.
