EXPERIENCE OF SPACE APPLICATION OF AXIAL GROOVE HEAT PIPES WITH Ω-SHAPE GROOVES
RÉSUMÉ
Among the specialists in the field of development of heat pipes with negative porosity gradient there is a stable opinion that such HP cannot operate reliably. Results of on-ground and flight tests of the heat pipes with negative porosity gradient are presented in this paper. Axial groove heat pipes (AGHPs) are widely used on board Russian space crafts. Experience of AGHPs application on board the spacecraft "KazSat", "KazSat2", "Express-MD1" and "Express-MD2" is presented in this paper. Thermal control systems (TCS) of these SC are based on application of Ammonia AGHPs with Ω-shape grooves and instrument panels with embedded AGHPs. Analysis of SC thermal in-orbit environment proved stability of AGHPs performance and AGHPs interfaces. During SC operation there was detected inessential temperature increasing of emissive instrument panels due to degradation of glass thermal optical coating parameters. AGHPs parameters are presented in this paper.
