RÉSUMÉ

The present work reports the effect of fluid rotation on boiling heat transfer (BHT) from a plane horizontal surface. Boiling on a copper plate was studied in a pool of distilled water under atmospheric pressure. A stirrer placed normal to the heater surface was used to create fluid rotation. Though BHT increases with the increase of rotational speed at low rpm it falls drastically with further increase of rpm. Through visualization and conductivity probe technique it has been seen that at low rotational speed radial inward sliding of vapor bubbles increases the rate of heat transfer while adherence of a thick vapor layer on the heater surface at high rotational speed reduces the rate of heat transfer drastically.
