Study of Heat Transfer in a Rotor-Stator System: Impinging Jet and Spacing Influence

RÉSUMÉ

This article presents an experimental study of heat transfer within a discoidal rotor—stator system featuring a rotor impinging axial jet. Measurements are performed over the rotor, using a technique based on infrared thermography, in order to determine the surface temperatures. Using a thermal balance, the local convective heat-transfer coefficient is identified. The influence of the axial Reynolds number Rej and the dimensionless spacing between the disks G is determined and compared with the literature data whenever available. Local heat-transfer coefficients are obtained for a rotational Reynolds number of Re = 1.29 × 105 , for Rej between 0 and 41.6 × 103, and for G ranging from 0.01 to 0.16.
