LAMINATED COMPOSITE STIFFNESS AND STRENGTH ESTIMATION METHOD
RÉSUMÉ
An approximate analytical design model of laminated fiber-reinforced plates and shells composed of unidirectional monolayers is experimentally justified. In this model, the main contribution to stiffness is assumed to be made by the fibers, and strength is estimated from the condition of fiber rupture or buckling. The influence of the dependence of the elasticity modulus on the stress sign and the effects of symmetric and balanced reinforcing is evaluated. Calculated estimates are compared with experimental data, and a calculation example of sequential failure of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer layers under conditions of tension, compression, and shear loading is analyzed.
