RÉSUMÉ

This paper presents the computational fluid dynamics modeling of two-phase (sand–water) flows through a 159-mm-diameter horizontal pipe for different mixture velocities and efflux concentrations with a particle size of 0.19 mm in diameter. The Eulerian multiphase model with standard k-ε turbulence closure equations is used in the simulation of mono-dispersed sand particles having a density of 2650 kg/m3. A comprehensive analysis is presented where the effect of the lift coefficient and different drag models on the prediction of the local solid concentration distribution across the pipe cross section at the outlet is also included.
