RÉSUMÉ

Personal ethical systems may arise from a number of sources. The medical technology professional requires a team to bring medical device innovations to market, and this team should have shared ethical values. Because the medical device professional functions in a highly regulated environment, the ethical rules may be imposed as a matter of law or standards of professional practice and not a matter of individual choice. Some of these regulations may carry severe penalties if violated. Sometimes these regulations risk inhibiting the innovation environment they are meant to improve. The article deals with some of the ethical rules and considerations that affect the medical device professional.
