INVERSE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM FOR PLANE ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE NORMALLY INCIDENT THROUGH A LAYERED DIELECTRIC STRUCTURE

RÉSUMÉ

We discuss a one-dimensional inverse problem of electromagnetic wave transmission through a layered dielectric structure which is to be identified from the transmission coefficient absolute values for a plane wave of normal incidence measured in a bounded frequency bandwidth. A reason for nonuniqueness in the inverse problem of recovering the unknown structure parameters is explained. Methods of measurement and data processing are suggested that allows to uniquely identify the structure parameters based on frequency dependence of absolute values of transmission coefficients obtained in two separate experiments using a reference dielectric slab.
