Long-Term Succession of the Phytoplankton of the Irtysh River Middle Flow (Omsk, Russia)
RÉSUMÉ
The research deals with the long-term succession of phytoplankton of the middle flow of the transboundary Irtysh River from 1998 to 2016. The values of total abundance and biomass of phytoplankton in 2014−2015 remained unchanged. In the structure of phytoplankton statistically significant changes were recorded. In spring, the percentage of Euglenophyta in total abundance and biomass of phytoplankton increases, and the proportion of green algae in the total number of phytoplankton in spring and summer declines. We identified 88 taxa of species and infraspecies levels new for phytoplankton of the studied river site; most of them belong to Chlorophyta (31) and Euglenophyta (21). Taxonomic structure and species diversity of phytoplankton did not change from 1998−2003 revealing the state of ecological modulation. Qualitative changes in the species composition of phytoplankton indicate the intensification of the process of eutrophication and the increase in pollution levels of the river water with organic matter.
