RÉSUMÉ

It was determined that light is an important factor of sexuality and induction of sexual reproduction for diatoms and other photoautotrophs. It not only regulates the passage of cellular cycle phases but also defines a rnitotic path change option with a sequence of meiotic transformations. The effect of light varies in nature and appears differently at different stages of sexual reproduction starting from preparatory stages of hametogenesis, when the effect of light is especially important, and ending with forming the initial cells. Overall, light is an important factor regulating passage, duration and structure of life cycles in diatoms.
