RÉSUMÉ

An annotated list is provided of 34 species of aerophytic algae recovered from samples of soil, humus and bryophytes collected during surveys carried out on the subantarctic Auckland Islands in March 2006. These algae are an understudied group in high latitude regions of the Southern Hemisphere. Cyanoprocariota (cyanobacteria) were the dominate group, represented by 22 species. Seven green algae, one charophyte and one diatom species were identified. The data do suggest that species tend to be island and habitat specific.
