Assessment of the modern sanitary and ecological conditions of water in the lower reaches of the Angara River (Krasnoyarsk region)
RÉSUMÉ
The qualitative composition of phytoplankton and microphytobenthos of the lower reaches of the Angara River from July to October, 2002, and from May to June, 2003, was represented by 184 species and infraspecific taxa belonging to 7 divisions. The most diverse groups were diatoms (83 species and infraspecific taxa) and green algae (54 species). At the majority of sampling sites, the phytoplankton communities demonstrated a high degree of complexity and high values of the Shannon index (Hb) (2.00−3.54); microphytobenthos communities were characterized by low values of Hb (0.01−1.43). Our assessment of water quality according to the ecological and sanitary classification, using biomass and saprobic indexes of phytoplankton and microphytobenthos (rank estimations) corresponds to the 3rd class of satisfactory clean, rather clean (summer and autumn), or slightly polluted (spring), β-mesosaprobic zone. The trophicity category of waters based on the average value of phytoplankton biomass (0.59±0.09 mg/L) corresponds to the oligotrophic class and oligo-mesotrophic category; based on average values of microphytobenthos biomass (49±10 mg/10 cm2), it belongs to the eutrophic class and eu-polytrophic category.
