T1 Incorporation of EHD Enhancement in Heat Exchangers JF Journal of Enhanced Heat Transfer JO JEH(T) YR 1995 FD 1995-06-01 VO 2 IS 1-2 SP 87 OP 93 AB This paper presents some new thinking about the possible effects of the electrode geometry on the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) enhancement of two phase heat transfer, especially boiling heat transfer. A hypothesis on the dependence of the enhancement effect on the geometry of the EHD electrode system in two phase heat transfer is made. For boiling, a conceptual model regarding the effect of EHD force on the bubble movement and hence enhancement effect is built. Furthermore, a semi-symmetrical electrode geometry is suggested to assess the hypothesis. The outcome of this study can hopefully form the basis of design of practical EHD heat exchangers.
