T1 A Quasi-Optical Layered Spherical Resonator for the Permittivity Measurement in Strongly Absorbing Liquid at the Millimeter Wave Length JF Telecommunications and Radio Engineering JO TRE YR 2004 FD 2005-12-27 VO 61 IS 7-12 SP 750 OP 766 AB A new method of measuring the complex permittivity of strongly absorbing liquid in the millimeter-wave band is suggested. The method is based on the use of a layered spherical resonator with measured liquid outside of a layered ball. The spherical dielectric layer located between liquid and the ball is used to dose the measured liquid losses in the resonator. The characteristic equations for eigen resonator modes have been obtained and studied numerically. The electromagnetic field distributions in the resonator have been found. The spectral resonator dependences have been obtained. The resonance frequencies and resonator Q-factor are calculated in measuring primary parameters of the resonator and liquid. The use conditions of the resonator as a measuring cell for determining the dielectric permittivity of strongly absorbing liquids have been found out. The dimensions of resonator and the operating oscillation mode have been obtained to provide the most high measurement sensitivity of the complex dielectric permittivity of liquid.
