RÉSUMÉ

The mechanisms by which salt concentration can occur in power plant heat exchangers are discussed. High concentration of salt can occur and can cause corrosion and failure. The phenomena are illustrated by data from the High Temperature Institute and elsewhere. The evidence is reviewed for the pre-dryout and post-dryout regions respectively. In the pre-dryout region, effects of tube orientation and non-uniformity in heat flux have been investigated. In the dryout and post-dryout regions, very high concentration factors are possible and the experimental evidence supports their existence.
