RÉSUMÉ

Permeability formulation is presented for heterogeneous (solid particles + liquid phase) flow through woven fibrous preforms based on the flow analysis through 2-D fibrous media. The mesoscale permeability analysis involves two simple fibrous geometries: Flow parallel to fibers and flow normal to fiber axis. The heterogeneity of the flow induces filtration of the particle fillers and alters the porous structure. The permeability of the flow domain and the specific surface of the porous structure, crucial for amount of filtration, are both modified to incorporate the effects of particles deposited to the fibrous preform (filtered particles). The governing equations for both the permeability analysis and the particle-filled injection are solved on a transformed computational domain due to irregular flow geometries, with finite-difference discretization. The physical to computational domain mapping is performed by elliptic grid generation and Jacobian transformation of the flow equations and boundary conditions.
