RÉSUMÉ
A simple and versatile methodology for solving the diffusion equation in a two-dimensional heterogeneous domain is presented and applied to the determination of the effective thermal conductivity of porous media. The numerical model is based on an explicit finite-difference scheme, and handles any geometry which can be represented on a rectangular grid. Numerical examples include a Sierpinski carpet and a spatially periodic porous medium. The proposed methodology is general and can be extended to three-dimensional heterogenous domains, made up of two or more media.
