Résumé

This paper reviews radiation heat transfer which occurs in conjunction with a variety of manufacturing and materials processing applications. Multimode heat transfer, source-load coupling, and macro-microscale radiative transfer are discussed and specific examples where such phenomena are relevant are described. The role of radiation is identified, and needs for improved understanding of basic radiation exchange and/or improved radiation heat transfer analysis techniques are discussed.
