Résumé

Towards meeting the objective of simulating heat transfer processes in urban areas, the study of dispersion from a passive scalar area source has been addressed as a first step, as a surface area source is in some ways analogous to surface heat transfer. Some point measurement experiments have been carried out by Pascheke et al. [15] to study the mass transfer from urban-like geometries using a naphthalene sublimation technique. Large eddy simulations of these experiments are performed as a validation study and the details, presented here, demonstrate the influence of the largest buildings on the dispersion processes.
