RÉSUMÉ
A fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor system was developed to evaluate active flow-control devices. The FBG system was used for direct measurement of skin frictional drags in laminar and turbulent flows both in a water channel and a wind tunnel. Three FBG sensors were used: two for strain/drag measurements and one for monitoring temperature fluctuations. The FBG system could accurately observe minute skin friction variations of a wall, Le. floating flat plate. Moreover, an appreciable drag reduction effect caused by a suction-blowing type actuator array was detected. This result indicates that the developed FBG system can be used to evaluate the performances of various flow control actuators under development.
