degradation of hydroecosystems
The ecological-trophic classification of the small reservoirs used for different special purposes based on use of the limited number of abiotic (depth, flow, water transparence, content of biogenic elements, mineralization, pH) and biotic (overgrowth of macrophytes, phytoplankton biomass) parameters has been proposed. Proposed system of classification enables to carry out integrated certification of these water bodies, to carry out ecological valuation of the separate water areas, to obtain appropriate data on their ecosystems degradation.

The structure and main communities of macrozoobenthos, and also the quantitative indices of its development, in the metarithral of the Poronay River were investigated. The influence of the speed of water flow, the composition of bottom sediments, and lithodynamic regime on benthos was analyzed. The speed of water flow influences the quantitative characteristics of benthos, whereas the type of bottom sediments and the speed of water flow influence the trophic status of benthos. It has been found that the formation of the types of bottom sediments can be considered as adaptation to lithodynamic regime.

As a result of the performed investigations, it has been found that in all the studied water bodies of Kiev and on all the studied species of higher aquatic plants regardless of their affiliation to the specified ecological group epiphyton algae communities belong to the same association Cocconeo placentulae-Epithemietum adnatae. Epiphyton algae communities occurring in the fouling of half-submerged plants belong to the subassociation cocconeetosum placentulae, whereas epiphyton algae communities registered in the fouling of submerged plants and plants with floating leaves - to the subassociation gomphonemetosum truncatae. Epiphyton algae communities observed in the fouling of plants with floating leaves belong to the subassociation gomphonemetosum truncatae variant Typica, whereas epiphyton algae communities occurring in the fouling of submerged plants - to the subassociation gomphonemetosum truncatae variant Cocconeis pediculus.

adaptation
Changes of glutamate dehydrogenase, alanine and aspartame aminotransferases in organs and tissues of carp under the long-term impact of elevated concentration of allochthonous nitrogen have been studied. It was stated that in fish there are two different modes (winter and summer) of physiological adaptation to the toxic environmental factors depending on temperature. During the vegetation period intensification of the general metabolism in fish occurs as response to the nitrous compounds impact, and at low temperatures intensity of exchange between environment and internal environment decreases.

Changes of enzyme activity of different links of the carbohydrate metabolism in the two-year-old carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) under the effect of herbicides of different chemical structure have been studied. Effect of herbicides caused fluctuations of glucose and glycogen concentration and influenced fish vital activity.

Prognostic significance of the glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) -molecular cytoskeletal marker in the brain of the common roach, Rutilus rutilus, under elevated concentration of the industrial pollutants in the Dnieper region has been assessed. Comparative analysis of the glial cytoskeleton state of the hydrobionts' of the Dnieper reservoirs has been carried out for the first time. Reliable increase of expression of the glial intermediate filaments protein was found, which was an evidence of the induced astrogliosis, i. e. neuroglial functional response to the negative effect of the polluted aquatic environment. The state of the glial cells cytoskeleton of the vertebrates was proposed as reliable and valid marker.

Paper deals with the effect of NH+4 (concentration 0.5, 5.0, 50.0 mg N/dm3) and NO−2 (0.8, 8.0, 80.0 mg N/dm3) on resistance of carp preliminarily kept for a long period under elevated concentration of the allochthonous nitrogen. It was noted that carps taken from the pond with maximal content of the inorganic nitrogen were the most tolerant to the impact of the considered concentrations.

Distribution of Mn, Fe, Zn, Cd, Cr, Pb, Cu and Ni in the soft organs of the duck mussel Anodonta anatina (Linnaeus, 1758) from two water courses with different pollution rate has been investigated. Maximal Mn, Fe and Zn concentration was registered in gills, maximal Cd, Cr, Pb, Cu and Ni concentration - in nephridia. The main portion of the heavy metals was accumulated in the massive organs - podium with visceral sac, mantle and gills. Nephridia served as depot-organ only for cadmium, they accumulated up to 36% of this metal. Variability of the heavy metals accumulation in the depot-organs was observed under pollution. Also under pollution specimens with extreme content of the heavy metals occurred more frequent.

137Cs content
The content of 137Cs in 20 species of fishes of the Kanev Reservoir belonging to different ecological groups was studied during 2007. In all the species of fishes, the content of 137Cs was significantly lower than its limiting permissible content according to the norms accepted in Ukraine. It did not exceed 35 Bq/kg. The highest content of 137Cs was observed in predatory fishes and in fishes with the mixed type of nutrition, whereas its lowest content was registered in benthos-, plankton-, and phytophagous species of fishes.
