ABSTRACT

A magneto-electric dipole antenna with novel feed design with modified ground plane is proposed, fabricated and analyzed. Due to this novel and improved feeding structure, the antenna has been able to achieve ultra-wide band to accommodate various S-band applications including airborne surveillance. The unidirectional radiation pattern and stable gain has also been reported for the entire range of operation along with low cross polarization levels lower than -30dB for better signal purity. The antenna also exhibits low side lobe radiations and almost identical E plane and H plane radiation patterns in the entire S-band.
