IMPROVING OF THE BROADBANDNESS FOR THE "PURE" WAVE CONVERSION BY A CASCADE OF STRIP DIAPHRAGMS IN PLANAR WAVEGUIDE

ABSTRACT

Optimization problem is considered for cascades of periodic strip diaphragms to provide efficient energy conversion of the fundamental TE1, 0 -wave to a higher-order wave or energy exchange between TEp, 0 - and TEM, 0 -waves of the higher-order (with a flat-topped response function). The frequency range with high efficiency of such devices is considerably enlarged. This is achieved through the interaction of the TEp, 0 - and TEM, 0 -modes with minimum of their longitudinal beatings' in different resonators (1 and 1 instead of 2 and 1). For this purpose the essentially different distances between diaphragms are chosen. Also, dielectric insertions and other constructional innovations are used.
