Elimination of Elecrocardiogram Artifacts by Means of Vector Nonlinear Filtering

ABSTRACT

A task of digital filtering of long-term electrocardiogram (ECG) records with the aim of removal of low-amplitude step-like artifacts caused by patient motion during signal registration is considered in the paper. The application of vector nonlinear filtering methods to removal of artifacts having amplitude-temporal and spectral characteristics similar to the corresponding parameters of ECG basic peaks is proposed and motivated. A model example of applying some types of nonlinear vector filters is presented. The filter properties are analyzed and this analysis shows expediency of nonlinear vector filter usage for elimination of complex distortions in ECG.
