Application of the Domain Product Method for Analyzing E-plane Complex-Shaped Radiators With Polygonal and Circular Inserts

ABSTRACT

Horn antennas and antennas in the form of free-space waveguides are widely used in the decimetric and shorter wavelength bands. Radiators of this type are used independently or as exciters of lens and reflector antennas. A broad class of such antennas consists of radiators with piecewise linear boundaries such as E-plane sectoral horns, box horns, horns with different flanges, etc. Their merits are simplicity and satisfactory waveband properties. To form the required directional pattern (DP), polygonal and circular inserts are placed inside the antenna or in the antenna aperture. These inserts can also be used to match the antenna to the feeding waveguide.
