ABSTRACT

During recently vector beams with different spatial polarizations of the radiation attract a greater interest due to their interesting physical particularities and a great number of potential applications including acceleration of electrons, material processing, high-resolution metrology, micro-ellipsometry, spectroscopy etc. The methods and approaches used in forming of laser beams with the required spatial polarization structure in the terahertz band are developed only in some papers, and all of them are predominantly referred to the out-of-resonator group of methods. To provide for an efficient in-resonator excitation of the transverse mode with azimuthal polarization of radiation it is suggested a structure of the non-homogeneous mirror of the dielectric laser resonator in the form of reflecting large-scale axially symmetrical metal diffraction grating. Using the finite-difference time-domain method for the bodies of rotation (BoR FDTD) showed that placing of the above mirror in the resonator allowed decreasing the coefficients of reflection from the mirror of the modes with the non-azimuthal types of polarization. It is experimentally proved efficient excitation of the transverse mode with the azimuthal polarization of the radiation at the output of the optically pumped waveguide HCOOH-laser with the above-mentioned diffraction mirror.
