NEW SUPERHARD COMPOSITE NANODISPERSE CARBON-BASED MATERIAL OBTAINED BY HIGH-PRESSURE SINTERING

ABSTRACT

By using a cheap fullerenes-free high-pressure method of sintering extracted fullerene soot (EFS) with addition of 10% Fe, a superhard amorphous-nanocrystalline composite has been obtained on the basis of carbon with the dispersity of nanocrystallites 2.5−14.5 nm in an amorphous matrix with the microhardness of the superhard phase inclusions of up to 107 GPa, the "basis" phase of up to 21.6 GPa, and density of 2.14−2.18 g/cm3.
