COMPARATIVE RESEARCH OF THE FLAME PROPAGATION IN BORON AND Al, Mg, Zr, Fe DUST CLOUDS
ABSTRACT
Comparative research of the flame propagation in dust clouds of metallic particles of similar sizes in glass tubes were carried out. The gasdynamic regimes and the normal flame velocity, vf, as functions of dust concentration, C and oxygen enrichment have been experimentally investigated. For air mixtures of Mg, Al, Zr, and Fe, vf increases with increase of fuel concentration, as √C. In boron-oxygen mixtures vf does not essentially depend on C; that is probably evidence of the low activational mechanism of boron burning.
