Stability of the Crystallization Front in a Prizmatical Ampule under Fast Vibration

ABSTRACT

The influence of uniform vibration on the stability of the crystallization front in a prizmatical ampule under microgravitation conditions is considered. The vertical and horizontal vibrations were studied. It is established that horizontal vibration causes curving the crystallization front that results in worsening the crystal quality. Vertical vibration induces agitating of melt and under certain conditions can improve crystal characteristics.
