ABSTRACT

Finite element formulation for functionally graded material (FGM) thin shells subjected to thermal and mechanical loads is presented. The power law distribution model is assumed for the composition of the FGM material along its thickness. A "COMSAP" software program has been developed using the Semiloof shell element formulation, and validation checks are carried out using the results available in the related literature. Results for stress, buckling, and vibration analysis of functionally graded shells are reported.
