Assessment of the Influence of Copper on the Model Population of Scenedesmus quadricauda (Turp.) Bréb. by the Method of Microcultures

ABSTRACT

Relationship between resting, dead, and multiplying cells in the model population of Scenedesmus quadricauda (Turp.) Bréb. under normal conditions and under the influence of CuCl2 (0.0001−1 mg Cu2+/L) was determined by the method of separate cultivation of the alga cenobia. At all the studied concentrations of CuCl2, the numbers of algae cells decreased, which may be related not only to their dying away, but also to the inhibition of their regeneration.
