ABSTRACT

Peculiarities of morphotype changes in Pseudorasbora parva, one of the most successful invaders of the Central and Eastern Europe, were analyzed. In P. parva several morpho-ecological groups were revealed, conditioned by different habitat conditions. At the level of plastic characteristics differences were noted in ontogenetic programs in lotic and lentic water bodies. Directivity of morphological changes is closely connected with peculiarities of swimming activity and confidently indicates process of successive adaptation of the invader to new habitat conditions. Two development programs were established − in the rivers − Psel, Ros', Danube, Dniester, Dnieper and Amur, and in the reservoirs − Kremenchug, Beliakove and Kleban-Byk. They were proposed to be named as "riverine" and "lanustrine" programs, which provide better adaptation to different habitat conditions.
