Problems of Ecologically Safe Water Consumption and Protection of Water Bodies: An Example of Lake Baikal

ABSTRACT

The existing rules of water body protection from pollution with sewage are shown to be inadequate, as they do not take into account the features specific for different geographic zones and altitudinal belts. Using an example of Lake Baikal, new approaches to the problem of water protection are proposed.
