ABSTRACT

A mathematical model of nitrogen circulation inside a freshwater ecosystem is proposed. The model consists of seven components. They are: water soluble organic and inorganic nitrogen compounds, nitrogen of detritus, nitrogen of phytoplankton and three types of bacterial nitrogen. Using this model, special features of nitrogen circulation inside oligotrophic lakes and other freshwater oligotrophic reservoirs are studied. It is shown that in the given case processes of biotransformation of nitrogen substances, which are connected with phytoplankton and bacteria, run independently one from another.
