ABSTRACT

The state of macrozoobenthos of the Kanev reservoir was studied on the basis of results of investigations of biodiversity. Water quality was assessed using biotic, saprobic, and ecological and sanitary indices. Water quality assessment in terms of these indices produced somewhat different results. Changes in the structural characteristics of communities and populations of hydrobionts occurring in the littoral zone in response to anthropic load should be taken into account in monitoring water bodies.
