ABSTRACT

The number of species, species diversity, and the quantitative characteristics of endemic Gastropoda occurring in Lake Baikal were investigated along four transects within the boulder-pebble littoral zone in the southern and middle basins of the lake. A total of 49 species of Gastropoda was identified. Among them 15 species dominated in different sections of the bottom. The influence of abiotic factors of the environment (geographic, geomorphological, and hydrodynamic) on the species diversity, number of species, and on the quantitative characteristics of Gastropoda was investigated.
