ABSTRACT
The peculiarities of the structure of zooperiphyton communities of the cooling pond of the Chernobyl NPS were studied after its removal from service. Zooperiphyton communities occurring on solid inorganic substrata were characterized by a predominance of Dreissena bugensis Andr. Until the early 1990s they were characterized by a predominance of D. polymorpha Pall. On the whole, the structure of zooperiphyton communities was less complicated than that registered in the cooling pond prior to the accident.
