ABSTRACT

Data on the development and spatial distribution of zooplankton in the "modern" anthropogenically changed lakes of the upper section of the Kanev Reservoir and in the "old" natural floodplain lakes of the Dnieper River are given in the paper. It has been found that these communities differ in their species composition and structure. At the same time, they are rather similar in their quantitative characteristics. In addition, it has been found that in both groups of the lakes the distribution of zooplankton is conditioned by intrawaterbody hydrodynamic processes. In this case, the water is almost of the same quality − "rather clean − slightly contaminated".
