Paper deals with optimization of hydrographic and water-management regionalization of Ukraine according to world practices of integrated management of water resources and according to provisions of the EU Water Framework Directive. Suggested geoinformation models of regionalization enable to optimize system of monitoring and forecasting of the water bodies' state, optimize water management aimed at achieving of good ecological status of the water bodies and preserving of the aquatic organisms' biodiversity.
