ABSTRACT

The taxonomic composition and quantitative characteristics of macrozoobenthos of the Danube River lakes were studied in 2009−2010. On the whole, 178 species were found in the littoral zone, whereas 80 species − in the open section. The largest number of species (166) was found in Lake Yalpug, whereas their lowest number − in Lake Kitay. Oligochaeta and Chironomidae dominated in terms of their numbers, whereas Bivalvia − in terms of their biomass.
